Pocket diary, unknown owner
Mostly empty. Empty envelope inside diary is addressed to Frank Goold. Inscription on inside cover reads "bout (sic) at [illegible] by Mrs. Anna Clark, the first day of 62. Coust (sic) 25 cents." Letter found inside diary does not seem to belong to envelope addressed to Goold. The name "William Goodwin" appears many times in the diary. Fort Sumter is also mentioned.
Pocket diary of (possibly) Francis Goold
Recording time served on naval vessel during Civil War. Entry for September 17 notes discharge, which corresponds exactly with Francis Goold's discharge date on his service record in Box 5, Folder 16. However, William Willis Goold's calling card can be found in the back of the diary. Final pages of diary include record of accounts while on naval vessel.
