Provenance
Gift of Josiah Pierce, November 26, 2018 (acc. no. 2019.153).
Processing note
The collection was maintained and held by the Pierce family at their home in Baldwin, Me. throughout. Prior to this processing, William Curtis Pierce had generally organized much of the correspondence and 18th century documents. Most of his order has been maintained, although relevant correspondence has been grouped together. The typescripts providing inventories and descriptions were compiled by William Curtis Pierce and kept with the documents. Smaller series and miscellaneous papers have been integrated chronologically when appropriate, and W.C. Pierce's inventories served as general guides. The sets are ordered by generation and within generation by birth order.
