European slides, with inventory, 1912 - 1915
Scope and Contents
Mixture of 3.25 by 3.25-inch and 3.5 by 4.75-inch glass lantern slides, many hand-colored. Slide envelopes are labeled with information listed on original slide labels, a description of the photograph, location information, and an original slide number. The slide numbers in this sub-subseries correspond to the Frederick E. Pottle lantern slide inventory filed in Box 6/Folder 3. This inventory lists information for slides numbered 1-1300 and includes locations, subjects, and dates. This data has been transferred to the envelopes.
Slides are arranged numerically, according to the numbers assigned by Dr. Pottle. However, folder titles and notes provide location information. The vast majority of photographs in this sub-subseries were taken in Germany.
