Outings
Scope and Contents
Images in this group were created of and during the club's outings, or excursions. These were a mixture of day, overnight, and camping trips to various locations in Maine, including beaches, lakes, mountains, and forests. Images depict members hiking, camping, playing games, boating and canoeing, taking photographs, creating plein-air art, and in candid shots at lodges, campsites, on trails, and in the wilderness.
An undated description of the club's outings written by Leyland Whipple notes that "the club outing produced an abundant crop of inane, mid-day lighted landscapes, inadequately planned, fuzzy close-ups, and a few real gems of humor and novelty. But the real aim of the outing was accomplished - to enjoy a good time and have a sociable camera session without having to listen to someone telling us how to take better pictures. Educational advancement is all right for regular meetings where we are in the mood for learning something. But not for outings."
