Scope and Contents
Documents journey over on the George Washington, including photos of the ship, travel through France (Paris, Brittany, and Normandy), and the trip home on the ship France. Includes news clippings from August 1914 regarding Germany's declarations of war against Russia and France, a letter to Frances Prescott urging her immediate return to England or America, her French visa, a safe conduct pass issued to her by the French police, and a ship newsletter providing passengers with an update on the emerging war. Tucked inside is a Bateaux Parisiens token and pamphlet from 1930 titled "Chronicle of events at the Massachusetts Bay Colony tercentenary celebration."
