Travel albums, 1904 - 1914

 Series
Identifier: Series 2

Scope and Contents

Series contains travel albums documenting Frances Clifford Brown Prescott’s annual Grand Tours of Europe, often accompanied by her three daughters. Some album spines are labeled with years and cities visited, while for others this information is gleaned from contents. Photographs are interspersed with prints, many of famous artwork displayed in the cities visited, and travel ephemera, such as tickets, correspondence, menus, hotel receipts, visiting cards of fellow travelers, and memorabilia from steamer voyages across the Atlantic Ocean. Note that some albums have interleaving sheets inserted to protect pages from pressed plants or image transfers, as well as encased inserts. Handle with care.
