This series includes general farm records as well as business records related to PDM and his management of the family homestead, Sunrise Acres Farm.

MTC terminals include the following locations: Forest Avenue, Portland, Maine; Augusta, Maine; Bangor, Maine; Scarborough, Maine; Searsport, Maine; Portsmouth, New Hampshire; Albany, New York; Bennington, Vermont; Burlington, Vermont; Colchester, Vermont; Fair Haven, Vermont; Waterbury, Vermont; and White River Junction, Vermont. Not all terminal sites are represented in this sub-subseries.

Scope and Contents From the Series: The Merrill Marine Terminal is the largest and most well represented part of the Merrill Companies in this collection. The major subseries in this series are organized to represent the stages of planning, construction, and then daily operation of the terminal. This series contains personal and business papers relating to PEM, his work, and his community involvement. Significant portions of the series consist of his correspondence (9.1.2), community contributions (9.2), participation in business and industry associations (9.3), and his estate papers (9.5). Subseries 9.4 houses newspaper clippings collected by PEM about his life, family, Sunrise Acres Farm, and the first few decades of the Merrill Companies.
