Includes original manuscript and typed transcript of an 1871 letter written by ECJ1 during a stay in Detroit Lake, as well as Golden Spike commemorative material from 1969. The May 10, 1869, "golden spike" ceremony joined the Union Pacific and Central Pacific railroads in Promontory, Utah; ECJ1 was in attendance, having worked on this final joining of the two railroads.
