Although the Merrill Transport Company is the oldest branch of the Merrill Companies, most of the records in this collection date from the 1960s or later. The documents from the divestiture and sale of MTC are in subseries 5.7.

MTC terminals include the following locations: Forest Avenue, Portland, Maine; Augusta, Maine; Bangor, Maine; Scarborough, Maine; Searsport, Maine; Portsmouth, New Hampshire; Albany, New York; Bennington, Vermont; Burlington, Vermont; Colchester, Vermont; Fair Haven, Vermont; Waterbury, Vermont; and White River Junction, Vermont. Not all terminal sites are represented in this sub-subseries.
