Genealogical papers of the Eveleth family and the related lines of the Davis, Stevens, True, Bailey and Woodford families, compiled by Ellen Lolita Eveleth. Includes letters, newspaper clippings, printed material, manuscript notes, and photographs of Eveleth and Woodford family members. The family, in this collection, dates back to the 1600s.

Biographical note
Ellen Lolita Eveleth (1896-1972) was born in Maine, and graduated from Pratt Institute, where she studied painting, drawing, and illustration. She later studied at Teacher’s College in New York, receiving a degree in Fine Arts Education. Eveleth was an art professor at Westfield State College in Massachusetts. After retirement she gave her time to researching and collecting lace. She is buried in Evergreen Cemetery in Portland.

Gift of Miss Annette Eveleth, 706 Stevens Avenue, Portland, Maine, May 12, 1972 (acc. no. MS73-4). Annette (1906-1996) was Evelyn's sister.
Processing note
Box 1 folders are archival, Box 2 folders are a mix of old and archival folders. Many of the letters and newspaper clippings are glued to blank paper.
