Administrative note
The Central Maine Power Company began in 1899. Most of the photographs in this collection seem to be related to the dams, rivers, and waterways involved in producing electricity in Maine. The Wyman Dam at Bingham, begun in 1928, would become the largest dam in the eastern United States.
Places in this collection include Bingham, Skowhegan, Norridgewock, Madison, Messalonskee Stream, Pierce Pond, Passamaquoddy Bay, Wilson Stream, Greenville, Indian Pond, Wyman, Hiram, Bonny Eagle, Sebasticook River, Kennebec River, Gilead, and Shelburne (New Hampshire). There are also photographs of the 1923 flood and winter scenes.
