Stuart family collection
Scope and Content note
Mostly photographs, including snapshots and professional images (black and white), as well as color illustrations (printed Christmas card), a letter and telegraph concerning financial matters, and a receipt, possibly for work being done on a ship. There are photographs of a farming activity, people participating in various recreational activities, formal portraits, and the family pets. Most of the photographs are unidentified. Also includes a photograph album of portraits taken in places like Maine, Boston, Southport, and Cardiff, Wales.

Biographical note
John B. Stuart (1800-1874) was involved in the shipping business with his family and was a ship owner. His family resided in Richmond, Maine, according to the 1860 census. He was married to Dolley C. Stuart (1805-1882). Many of the photographs in this collection are later dates, so may have been related to family members.

Collection found on Cindy Murphy's desk, June 2015 (acc. no. 2019.001.001). Donor was not identified, but there were two modern business cards found in the collection: Cindi Davis, Chesnut Hill, Mass., and Norman J. Gould, M.D., Mashpee, Mass.
