Administrative note

The Friends Committee on Maine Public Policy is a committee formed by the Maine Quarterly Meetings of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers). Its purpose is to share with decision makers at the local, state and national level its insights and concerns from the perspective of the Society of Friends. Its efforts reflect fundamental Quaker values including nonviolence, a desire for equity and justice for all as well as for a community where every person’s potential may be fulfilled, and an earth restored. The committee is currently dormant but could become active again in the future.

Processing note

The material is organized both topically and chronologically.

In October 2024, a flash drive of born-digital files from 2015-2024 was added to the collection. Files were migrated to and arranged on the MHS server. The addition was added and described as Series 2, prompting the creation of Series 1, which houses the original paper-based collection. Future born-digital additions are expected, and will be added to Series 2. The flash drive was added to Box 6, and will be retained for 25 years.
