Administrative note
Mt. Sinai is a Jewish cemetery located on Hicks Street (off Warren Avenue), in the Riverton neighborhood of Portland, Maine. It has been associated with Shaarey Tphiloh and Etz Chiam congregations, but is now independent and managed by the Southern Maine Jewish Cemetery Association. The SMJCA also oversees Smith Street Cemetery in South Portland.

Provenance
Gift of the Southern Maine Jewish Cemetery Association, July 2021 (acc. no. 2021.085).
Processing note
Folders were unlabeled upon receipt, and original order had evidently been lost. Correspondence between families of the interred/inquiring parties and the cemetery staff were likely alphabetized by the surname of the author/addressee at one time. Due to frequent discrepancy between these names and those of the interred, this correspondence was re-sorted alphabetically by the surname of the interred.
Correspondence where the interred were unidentified remain sorted by the family member's name, and in some cases, the listed name had to be selected from multiple conflicting spellings.
