Biographical note

Clifford Nickels Carver (1890-1965) compiled this information for the book Carver Family of New England: Robert Carver of Marshfield and his descendants (Rutland, Vt.: Tuttle Pub., 1935).

Carver was born in Searsport, Maine, and was an American diplomat, as well as being a businessman in New York. He was active in the shipping industry, and involved with the two American whaling firms active in the 1930s.
