Portland - Church of the Messiah, 1916 - 1943
Scope and Contents
Newspaper clippings, constitution and bylaws (typescript), reports, correspondence (including William D. Veazie, J. S. Diem, Walter Littlefield, Kenneth Hawkes, Stanley Manning, Moses Stiles, Carl Verrill, Judson Marvin). The church was built in 1869 on the corner of Congress and India Street. In 1943, the Church of the Messiah and All Souls Universalist Church merged. They renovated the building on Stevens Avenue and changed their name to Messiah-All Souls Universalist Church. The Church of the Messiah became USO Industrial Center.
