Scope and Contents
Parents of Leonard Augustus Pierce (Box 30-33). Includes material related to their lives and families, including the Pierce and Kendall families; Clarence's correspondence, some with transcriptions, and business records, household bills, and receipts. Also includes papers of Leonard Pierce Jr. (1828-1872), half-brother to Clarence and son of Leonard Pierce, Sr. (1798-1873), U.S. Consul in Mexico; see O.S. Box 81 for photostat of document signed by Abraham Lincoln appointing Pierce as U.S. Consul. And papers of Alma Allerton Pierce, granddaughter of Leonard Pierce Jr. and daughter of Charles Cushman Pierce, who was an educator who lived in Laredo Texas; an elementary school there is named after her (Alma Pierce Elementary School).
