Includes: 1. Certificate appointing John Fairfield Justice of the Peace for York County, 1824; 2. Certificate appointing John Fairfield Justice of the Peace & of the Quorum, 1831; 3. Certificate appointing John Fairfield as Reporter of the Decisions of the Supreme Judicial Court, 1832; 4. Certificate to represent the People of Maine in the 24th Congress of the U.S., 1834, signed by Gov. Robert Dunlap; 5. Receipt of District of Maine Clerk's Office for a book "Reports of Cases Argued & Determined in the Supreme Judicial Court of the State of Maine", authored and donated by Fairfield, 1835; 6. Certificate signed by Gov. Robert Dunlap authorizing John Fairfield to administer the oaths or affirmations prescribed by the state to every civil officer in York County, 1837.
