Correspondence, 1834 - 1919
Scope and Contents
Series houses family and individual collections of correspondence. Family letters are primarily between Josiah Chase, Sr., Mary Chase, and their children, Sarah, Mary, Harriett, Albert (A.C.), Josiah Jr., (Charles) Edward, John, and Laura. Individual collections are those of Josiah Chase, Jr., in his role as Justice of the Peace, and personal correspondence of his wife, Constance (Tapley) Chase. Also includes a collection of postcards mailed to and... from various Chase family members.
Note that some letters are addressed to or sent by Capt. Josiah Chase. This may be an uncle of Josiah Chase, Jr., and his siblings; it does not appear to be either Josiah Chase, Sr., or Jr., who was a colonel.
