Scope and Contents
The photo collection consists of images from the W.S. Libbey Co., the Libbey family, and of Lewiston history. It includes photographic prints of all sizes, negatives, slides, some photocopied and mimeographed photos, and some clippings of photographs. The Libbey Family photos include portraits and candid shots of the WSL, Jr., family, their houses and properties, WWI era shots of WSL, Jr., (including action shots of the war either taken by WSL, Jr., or an associate), and an ambrotype of a Civil War soldier, perhaps a relative. The Lewiston history photos include slides, prints, postcards, and photocopies, and include subjects such as the Androscoggin River, Bates College, Central Maine Hospital, city parks, the Great Flood of 1987, Lisbon Street, and many other identified and unidentified shots of Lewiston, Auburn, and Maine.
