Scope and Contents
The Lewiston history collection consists of typescript and manuscript versions of The history of Lewiston by Wayne C. Jordan (commissioned by W.S. Libbey Sr. circa 1907 and finished before 1924, though may never have been published; note: this has also been digitized); notes and reference materials concerning Lewiston's history, architecture, and culture, assembled by Ruth Libbey O'Halloran, consisting of notes, correspondence, photocopies, clippings, and forms (appears to be preparatory materials for a never-published book), ca. 1975-1985; correspondence, documents, statistics, meeting notes, walking tours and maps relating to the Lewiston Historical Commission, ca. 1975-1980; monographs, pamphlets, periodicals, articles, clippings, and mixed printed matter related to the history of Lewiston; notecards on the history and architecture of Lewiston assembled by Ruth O'Halloran, including notes, clippings, postcards, and photos, ca. 1975-1985; and videos, mostly professionally produced from the 1980s and 1990s. Some photos, postcards, and other images that became detached from the notecards (and disassociated with their specified subject section) were integrated into the photo series.
