"So many boats" scrapbook, 1899 - 2010

Captioned photos about EPH's lifelong relationship with boats as a sailor, captain, and builder. Includes 1909 photographs of The thoroughfare, which ran between Vinal Haven and North Haven. There is also an 1899 photograph of the summer home belonging to EPH's paternal grandparents, Lucy Austin Harding (1861-1931) and Herbert J. Harding (1852-1933). Note on cover reads: "Scrapbook made for Dad when his mind started to fail - in his late 80s." Scrapbook pages were left housed in their original sleeves, though not archival, as it was determined removal would adversely impact the object.
